It seems like in a school setting, a lot of teachers require papers of a certain length thus forcing students to fluff it up just to hit the number of pages. I think that's how people start associating length with quality. By the way, I love the chubby squirrel pic!!

I completely agree. My students always tell me the same thing, that they "pad" their prose to get a page count. I tell them that if they can't find enough to say, then it's a bad assignment, and it's the teacher's fault. :-)
