A success story to encourage writers.
There’s no feeling like going to a book store, picking a book off the shelf, and seeing your name in print. I’ve written for many websites and have seen my byline on an article or review online, but every time I see it on the page of a book, it gives me an unexplainable feeling.
Last I submitted a story for a couple of anthologies and it was accepted. After waiting many months, it is finally done and in book stores. The story is called Take a Risk and the book is a gift book for graduates. It’s called Follow Your Dreams: Wisdom and Inspiration for Graduates.
I write this post not just to trumpet my accomplishment, but to encourage you. If I can get a story in an anthology, you can too. There are many of them out there; you just have to do a little digging. I wrote an article about this very thing a little while ago. Take a look at that for tips.
While I did get paid for this, it wasn’t enough to retire on. I’m not complaining at all, just saying that it’s not the only way to make some money writing. I wrote an article about copywriting that could be helpful for those that aren’t that familiar with it. That might help give you some ideas.
There are some great books available on making money writing. All of us would love to sell a multi-million dollar book deal and retire to the Caribbean. While you’re waiting for that to happen, you might as make some money doing what you enjoy. I just picked up a book called Writing for Quick Cash. I’ll let you know how that is.
