If you're serious about writing and promoting articles for profit, writing an article a day is a consistent way to get and keep assignments.
There are several writing groups that encourage productivity. NaNoWriMo, the most popular, gathers writers together each November to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. BIW, or Book In a Week, sets aside the first full week of each month to write a book. Across the world, local writing groups have their own version of accountability.
While most of these groups revolve around writing fiction, you can create your own productivity system for non-fiction articles by committing to writing an article a day. Why write an article a day? Consistent production encourages more consistent production. When you see yourself finishing tasks on a regular basis and receiving traffic and payment on a regular basis, you'll soon learn that, "Hey, this is a pretty good deal. I should do more of this!"
There are three tricks to writing an article a day:
In order to keep up with finishing an average of an article each day, you must make time to write each day. Sit down at your computer at the same time each day to go through your notes. This might take you any where from twenty minutes to two hours, depending on how much research you are doing and how fast you write. If you schedule it at a consistent time, you'll quickly train your brain to get into writing mode.
Personal experience has show that the most effective way to consistently write one article per day is to always have several articles started and in varying stages. Some may consist only of a title theme, others just a list of ideas, and some full paragraphs of thoughts. Each day, progress a little further on each article and start new ones. Finish one or two, and start one or two. Do a little research and write a little.
Did I mention this? Writing every day is important, not only for the sake of completing articles, but for the sake of personal consistency. Successful writers understand writing is a habit. The more you do it, the more you create, the more you profit, the more successful you are. Writing and success become your habit. If you are serious about cranking out an article every day, you should commit to working every day.
For making the most of keeping track of your articles, I recommend Life Journal for Writers. This software program allows you to quickly develop, save, and organize articles in any stage without the hassle of several document files. You can even sync between your laptop and desktop computers!
Writing articles for profit can be an effective way to gain name recognition, practice and experience, and traffic. By writing an article a day, you'll develop a habit of producing a product and getting it published.
