Why do writers write? Writers are commonly introspective people who live in their heads, searching for the right words to express their exact thoughts.
Writers have such burning desires that keep them honing their craft, no matter how difficult the struggle. They yearn to put paper to pen or fingers to keyboard when inspiration sparks their muse. They long to fill the paper or screen with the inner workings of their minds. But the heart of a writer goes much deeper than that. At the very heart of a writer lies three passions:
Passion to CreateWriters love to create. They create with their words. That is what makes writing such an art form. Fiction writers create stories, characters, settings, and plots that take readers to the different realms of their imaginations. But non-fiction writers are great creators as well. They desire to lure readers into their world of reality, painting pictures that the writer or others have actually seen. It takes a true artist to describe the beautiful landscape on the hills of France or the historical monuments of ancient Italy. Journalists try to recreate the news for readers, describing events as if their readers were actually there at that moment. Writers create simply by interpreting their thoughts onto the paper or screen, which for majority of the people in the world, is a difficult task to do. To create, writers must be willing to open up a part of themselves to their readers because their words give insight to who the writer really is. Passion to ShareWriters love to share. Through their work, they share a piece of themselves to their readers. They communicate their thoughts and opinions. They want their words to be read. Writers possess a wealth of information that they long to share with the rest of the world. When they discover an unknown fact, they want to share it. When they learn something new, they want to inform everyone. When they have an opinion about something, they want to express it and sometimes persuade others with it. Writers share to communicate. Words are their means of conversation. Their passion drives them to research, compose, and publish what they know or what they want to know. It is through their writing that they let people into their worlds. Passion to Reach OutWriters love to reach out. Whether the medium is through books, newsletters, articles, emails, or magazines, writers yearn to make a difference with their words. Their deep desire is to somehow influence or teach what they know. A simple newsletter about the mission of a non-profit organization can help to bring in thousands of donations and volunteers. A magazine review of a new restaurant can attract tons of customers in the first week of its grand opening. Writers have a burning desire to reach out. They have the ability to influence readers toward a particular thought. They write to reach out to the masses, hoping to connect everyone in some way with their words. Writers have more power than they realize. Their passions entertain and inform readers and also bring people together. Without passion, writers’ words are empty and lifeless. They are just that, words. But their passions bring life to their writing and, as a result, they are able to create, share, and reach out.
